Hi Ian.
i am not over weight (according to the doctor) however i have bits that wobble and need firming!!! in particular the dreaded wobbly arm or "bingo wing" as its called! with the cardio and diet to loose the fat what would be the best excercise i could do to tone that bit?

@Celeste, what are you doing in terms of your diet? Are you ensuring that you're in calorie deficit (see Calories in vs Calories Out)?

@Sophie, to be honest I don't really know much about psoratic arthritis, I can only recommend you consult your doctor about the best way to exercise without causing additional discomfort. Your best weapon for fat loss will be through your diet.

@Keith, GREAT progress keep it up, but one thing at a time (for now). Given the quantity of cardio sessions you do each week the first thing I would do is re-examine your diet; if you want to keep losing weight you need to be in calorie deficit (see Calories in vs Calories Out)...are you training more and eating more - cancelling your deficit? Count calories over a couple of weeks and see where you are at. Keep dropping your body fat % and muscle definition will come as a bi-product. Secondly, I'd mix up your cardio sessions to keep challenging your body (it adapts quickly), drop a HIIT session for a longer mid-intensity run / row / swim etc...

Ian,
I am about to turn 59 in a couple of months. I've been working out religiously since January (about 10 months). I've been able to lose 60 lbs, but I am stagnating around 230. For the last 2 months, I drop down to 225 then back up to 235. I've changed up my routine to incorporate carb/protein cycling along with periodization and microperiodization and it's making me stronger but I would like to see more definition in my arms as well as a stronger looking chest . Is that asking too much at this early stage or should I keep on doing what I'm doing and hope that 6 months down the road, I'll like the results? Also, I'm having trouble with belly fat and love handles. In addition to weight training, I incorporate 30 minutes of HIIT 4 days per week and I walk 5 miles every day. Help!

My biggest challenge is to stay motivated, I back at gym doing cardio and weights, at least 4 times a week. I've been doing this for almost 3 months now, and I can't seem to be losing any weight or body fat.

I have gained strength, fitness and muscle but could never get my body fat below 14%. I have tried all the suggeted diets. I am 6.2 and 90kg and my body fat is between 17 and 19% at the moment. any suggestions???
