Protein is an essential component in a healthy diet and is vital for muscle toning and muscle building. If you want a hot toned body, you must have it in your diet. Protein is need to help repair, rebuild and grow your muscles after workout.
When you train you make micro-tears in your muscles, which is why you feel stiff and sore after a hard session. Protein helps ‘fix’ these micro tears, and encourages the muscle to grow stronger and bigger.
So whatever training you are doing, you’ve got to make sure you’re getting the right amount of protein in your diet.

Expert opinion varies on the exact amount required, but basic amounts are 0.8-1.0 gram per kilo of body weight per day for the average person, and 1-1.5 grams per day for those working out looking to grow, strengthen or build muscle.
Once you get above 2.0 grams per day, you start to put extra stress on your kidneys, it’s not stored in the body and is excreted in your urine and excrement…nice!
So the best way is to look nutritional information of the foods that you are eating, making sure you get enough at each meal throughout the day.

The best protein sources are lean meats, such as chicken, turkey and fish; also eggs and beans are good sources. Red meat however, has higher levels of saturated fat, which obviously is not good if your goal is to burn fat. So try to limited the amount of red meat you eat, and go for white meats.
