You need sugar in your blood. FACT. You need it for energy, to able to do the day to day tasks in life. But too much blood sugar becomes a problem, as excess is stored as fat.
You should avoid eating foods that are high in sugar, as ideally you want to keep your blood sugar levels on an even keel. If you occasionally gorge on high sugar foods, your blood sugar levels will be rise rapidly causing your pancreas to release higher levels of insulin. The insulin in turns stimulates your body to store the glucose as glycogen in your liver and in fat around your body.
So try to minimise or remove high sugar foods from your diet; it’ll immediately help you lose weight and burn more fat. Here’s what to do instead…
Eat Foods With A Lower Glycemic Index
The Glycemic Index ranks how different carbohydrates affect glucose levels in the blood after consumption. Low GI foods have a smaller impact on the changing levels of blood sugar and thus insulin levels and fat storage. To Learn more about the GI go here.
Foods with a high GI, such are white bread, white rice, potatoes, are converted into sugars by the body quite readily, which will lead to increased insulin production and fat storage. Instead switch to whole grain foods, such as whole grain ‘brown’ bread, and whole wheat or whole grain foods – look for 100% whole grain on the labels.
The old excuse, ‘I don’t like brown/grain bread’, is feeble and is not an valid excuse. If you want to eat healthier and lose weight you’ve got to make wholesale changes to your diet, and that means making some sacrifices.
